The Peacemaker Called Donald Trump'

Has Donald Trump kept his promise of preventing war? During the 2024 US campaign, asides from other promises, said that he will end the wars around the world. He made the statement in his election night victory speech in November 2024. "I'm not going to start war. I'm going to stop wars",he said. "We will measure our success not only by the battles we win but also by the wars that we end - and perhaps most importantly, the wars we never get into ". In 2026, Donald Trump has bombed Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Venezuela and Somalia. In 2025, Donald Trump designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern, citing the killing of christians in Northern Nigeria. In December of the same year, Donald Trump ordered airstrikes against the Islamic militants in northwest Nigeria. In 2026, a US and Israeli military operation against Iran almost blew into a full-scale war. This was against Trump's promise to avoid wars. Donald Trump promised to end the Ukrainian war. Unfor...

"MY WORST POST YET"

How do you handle rejections? I mean how do you handle confusion? What do you do when the road becomes too dark? Most times, I feel like I sound brutal. I don't care about people's feelings; what people will say or the the already existing system. But I must speak my mind. I must talk and I can never be silenced. And yes, the world will hear about me in the most glamorous and best way possible. I have pitched my novel, Shattered Dreams, to a number of literary agents and there has never been a positive response. The publishing industry does not favour the young writers in Africa. I know this because I am not the only one in this situation. I also know a writer who is pitching her novel to literary agents. She has gotten 38 rejections so far! And one might ask, what about the publishing houses in Africa? For me and for every other writer in Africa,it is not about publishing a book. It is about connecting the world. It is about giving the world a chance to feel and hear my story....

Blood-sucking Vampires

Blood-sucking vampires, Devouring fragile souls, Sucking fragile blood, eating fragile flesh, What will we do when we are persecuted  By the gatekeepers of our city? Oh! Blood-sucking vampires, What have we done this time, Despite your insatiable taste, We share with you what we have, But you pay us evil for the good we have done. Blood-sucking vampires, You shall groan in pains, For the blood spilled, for the souls devoured, You shall rot in this life and not thereafter. --------------------------------------------------------------------- An excerpt from the novel, Shattered Dreams. The Role Of The Media In African Politics

In recent years, the media in Africa has turned into a praise singing platform. And one would think of one of those churches in uncompleted buildings and kiosks on the roadside. Has the African media lost its mission as The Fourth Estate of The Realm? Unfortunately, yes. African media has become a platform where politicians make their empty promises. No more accountability, no more critical questions. Every journalist wants to be on the good side of the politician. But are there good journalists in Africa? Yes, there are. However, the corrupt journalists outnumber the good ones. Newspapers and magazines publish articles praising the "good works" of political officials. These "good works" are public funds embezzled and hidden for generations unborn. These are all in a bid to generate revenue for the organization. Although, it is not surprising that the media in Africa has degenerated to this stage. Many of the media houses in Africa are owned and controlled by polit...

Redefining The Concept Called Pan-Africanism

Coined by Henry Sylvester Williams as a response to racial discrimination and colonialism,Pan-Africanism has gotten different interpretations from different thinkers. While many sees it as a movement, others see it as the social, political and economic independence of African nations. Most importantly,a large group of people see it as the unification of African nations into a single African state. Whichever one it is,it is important to know that Pan-Africanism is a broad idea and it focuses on the cultural unity, political liberation and global solidarity of Africa and people of African descent. However, let's take a minute to ask ourselves the true meaning of the term,"Pan-Africanism". What exactly is the term Pan-Africanism? Does this definition or these definitions,as the case maybe, reflect the true identity and the current happenings in Africa? W. E. B. Du Bois describes Pan-Africanism as the belief that all people of African descent-on the continent and in the diasp...

The Desecrated Land Of Africa (Poetry)

Africa is stripped of her virginity, She is vulnerable to evil, Her pride has been stolen from her, She is left with no one, To bury her soul in a kind manner. Africa, the once proud woman of the earth, Now an alchemy of shame, She is described as black, But her soul is whiter than snow, Who will save her from this nemesis? Who will be her Jesus of Calvary? Africa, the once rich woman of the earth, Now old and faded like a rag, She is as cunning as a tortoise, She has gold and diamonds under her feet, Bronze and silver are common to her, But she is wretched, Her gold ends up in the shores of mere princes, Who make a gold crown out of the raw gold. Africa, when will you rise? When will you stand as the black queen you are, And ruin the world with your escapades, Just to save you from extinction, The desecrated land of Africa. -------------------------------------------------------------------- This poem emphasizes the pains of Africa. It mourns Africa's lost glory and it wishes Afr...

We Are All Beneficiaries of Corruption

While we accuse the government of our various countries for every of our woes, take a minute to read this excerpt from my novel, Shattered Dreams : ",Oh, come on. A gana ebe ahu, don't go there. We are all beneficiaries of corruption. All of us; the woman selling akwaete fabrics in Eke market , the palm wine tappers in the village of Umuaga ; everyone is a beneficiary of corruption. So, you can't accuse me". An excerpt from my novel, Shattered Dreams. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Shattered Dreams, a speculative fiction, tells the story of a timid but highly intelligent boy, Chikadibia, who is destined to liberate the people of Umuaga from an age old tyranny. It is set in an imaginary country in West Africa. Read on Wattpad. For publishing inquiries, send an email to  deraonuoha46@gmail.com. The Future Of The World (Poetry)

We are called the leaders of tomorrow, When there are no preparations for today, Nothing is kept for us; nothing indeed, We are left to wander in the darkness, But we are called the future of the world. They tell us,"Follow this way, it's the right path" But they turn around to shout at us with disdain, "Come on out of that place, it isn't good" But when we stand immobile, they burst in anger, "Move on, you morons!" But they call us the future of the world. We are leaders of today and not tomorrow, For we groomed ourselves from yesterday, Helping each other in times of distress, And we light our hopes with the vision, We are the future of the world! -------------------------------------------------------------------- Although this is not an excerpt from the Shattered Dreams novel, this goes far to portray the plight of the youth in Africa. During political campaigns and public speeches, the African youth becomes the leaders of tomorrow. But what ha...

THE STORY OF A GHETTO BOY

I wanted to be sure I could handle the emotions that comes with making private matters public before publishing this. I wanted to be make sure it won't break me. It took me hours to think about it. And here I am writing about it; the events that led to the writing of my novel, Shattered Dreams, currently on Wattpad. In 2021, after writing my first ever long fiction during the COVID-19 lockdown, I conceived the idea for my novel, Shattered Dreams. That same year, my parents had a major disagreement that almost led to divorce.  I have always expected a disagreement, considering the fact that my parents have been in loggerheads for the longest time. However, I didn't expect the outcome. It was December and school just ended. My mother and siblings said a prayer on my birthday being the tenth. And as usual, I was on top of my class. I was the best among the best and my family couldn't be anything but proud. To add to the excitement was the new novel I planned to write. The novel...

AFRICA'S INDEPENDENCE IN QUESTION

Is African independence a reality or a fallacy? The 20th century featured the West imposing its civilization on Africa. Countries like Great Britain and France brought cities together to form colonies. And these colonies were guarded like personal properties. However, during the 1960s and 1970s,africans rose to ask for their independence. Leaders from different African colonies like Kwame Nkrumah,Nnamdi Azikiwe,Obafemi Awolowo, Leopold Senghor and many others formed a movement that fought for the independence of Africa. This action led to the independence of African colonies. On 1st October,1960, my country, Nigeria, gained her independence from great Britain. And so many other colonies became independent, ran their countries by themselves and saw to the economic and political growth of their countries. But the question remains,"Is African independence a reality or a fallacy?" In my novel, Shattered Dreams, a powerful country, Lampad colonizes the people of Umuaga and combin...

Feminism In Distress: Africa in View

The new definition of feminism; the extinction of man. From ancient times, women have always fought for their rights. Therefore, feminism is not a new concept. From the colonial era down to this age, there has been a continuous call for equal opportunities to both genders. This doesn't mean that feminism started during the colonial era in Africa. It runs down to the eighteenth and nineteenth century where women from groups for promotion of woman's dignity and fight against women's abuse. Most of these groups are indigenous to different ethnic groups in Africa. For example, in Igbo land, daughters from the same kindred form the bulk of the group called UMUADA while women married to the same community are NWUNYEDI. The fight for the equal rights of man and woman, however, grew intense after the independence of many African countries. Women came out en masse to curb the excesses of their male counterparts. They questioned structures and systems imposed by culture, religion or m...

SUPPORT SYSTEM

If you don't know the value of family, you don't have a support system. I have always thought about them. They have always been on my mind. Family. Blood. My biggest treasure on earth. If you don't know the value of family, you will not understand this. And yes, you don't have a support system.  The number one thing family has done for me is believing in a dream that is blurry and faint. They believed a dream that sounded so impossible. I didn't realize how much I was writing about myself and my family in my novel, Shattered Dreams, until now. My father is a man whom I will categorize as dangerous. Quite a chameleon just like the character, Okwudili, the priest of Amadioha,in my novel. And honestly, I can't place my father's personality because it can change. But whenever it changes,in most cases,it changes for good. A man who believes in education. A man who believes in the vision of his children. My father will always talk about how he will address himsel...

TRUMP'S AMERICA AND TINUBU'S NIGERIA

Every country has its own weaknesses and problems. It all depends on how the government of the country handles it. In late 2025, US congressmen, French Hill(Republican- Arkansas) and Tom Suozzi (Democrat- New York) led a bipartisan letter to the US secretary of state, asking for the immediate designation of Nigeria as a "Country of Particular Concern", citing Nigeria's security situation and the government's inability to protect religious communities and groups and attacks on the christian community in the Northern Nigeria. On October 2025, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, officially designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern(CPC) and thereby, ordered airstrikes to be launched on Islamic militants in Northern Nigeria on December 2025. The government of Nigeria, led by president Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, however debunked the claim, calling it a "faulty data". The government claimed that the killings in Northern Nigeria was characte...

GREATNESS DOESN'T MAKE NOISE

In a world where noise is seen as the only way to get visibility and noise equates to greatness, some people are showing up and doing great things silently. Globally acclaimed Nigerian American novelist, Nnedi Okoroafor, just won the 2026 NAACP image award for Outstanding Literary Fiction. Nnedinma Nkemdili Okoroafor,an Afro fantasy author, coined the words,"Afrojujuism" and "Afrofuturism". These terms might sound alike but she has made it clear that they are not the same. Nnedi Okoroafor is the pioneer of African fantasy. She has won awards like the Hugo award,Nebula award, Wole Soyinka Prize for Literature and most recently, the NAACP image award for Outstanding Literary Fiction. She has also made it to bestseller lists like the New York Times bestseller list. Nnedi Okoroafor's novel, Death of the Author, was published in 2025 and honestly, the novel is fire 🔥 Death of the Author,a novel which sold seven figures,is the story of a young disabled woman,Zelu,whos...

SHATTERED DREAMS EXCERPT

"The white man imposed themselves on us; their religion, culture, mode of dressing. These people claimed they have found bushes in Africa. Well, they may be right. But in this bush rose the Oyo empire. In this bush, the Igbo people practiced republicanism. In this bush, Egypt built the biggest civilization in the world. In this bush, iron was smelt! What were these white people doing, they were busy fighting. They called it the medieval era".    This is an excerpt from chapter six of my novel, Shattered Dreams, currently on Wattpad. Shattered Dreams,a speculative fiction, tells the story of a timid but highly intelligent boy, Chikadibia, who is destined to liberate the people of Umuaga. It is set in an imaginary country in West Africa during the 19th century. Shattered Dreams is a story written for Africa. The rest of the world can catch up if they want to. But of course, they will 😁 MY HOPE AND DREAMS FOR MY NOVEL, SHATTERED DREAMS; In the nearest future, my novel, Shattere...

THE TRAVAILS OF A YOUNG AFRICAN WRITER.

IT IS MUCH MORE EASIER FOR A YOUNG AFRICAN TO BREAK INTO THE GLOBAL MUSIC SCENE THAN FOR A YOUNG AFRICAN TO BREAK INTO THE GLOBAL LITERARY SCENE.  Yes, I said what I said. Whenever an established author is asked to give a word to the teenagers who are aspiring to be writers, their advice is simple,"Read and write as much as you can". Indeed, that is a wonderful advice. It is one of the best advice an elder will give to a young person. However, these writers fail to address the issue of publishing. Every year, African teenagers write excellent books. These books,if they are published, will become global bestsellers. These teenagers are people who will compete with the best brains in literature.  Unfortunately, these teenagers do not get representation for their work. There are no institutions to sponsor these young people's dreams. So, their dreams are buried in the world of impossibilities. In 2022, I wrote my novel, Shattered Dreams, which tells the story of a timid but ...
